Although I am just a photographer and not a makeup artist I do have a sister who works for MAC cosmetics and has taught me a ton and have used the knowledge she has shared with me when I do makeup for our high school senior clients and when advising brides and other clients on their makeup for the photoshoot.
This past week Sam and I photographed the wedding of my best friend and college room mate, Allison. Allison also let me style her and some of the wedding details. It was SOOOO fun for me to create an image from start to finish. We did several trial runs on Al and ended up on the look below. Although there are lots of different makeup brands that work well for photography my two favorite are MAC cosmetics and Makeup Forever.

I use MAC eyeliners and eyeshadows but not mascara. I have heard that Dior’s mascara is amazing but since we usually use false eyelashes I don’t worry about high quality mascar as much. I also use MAC blush and eye brow pencil. Ohhhh and I can’t forget the brushes. The MAC brushes have maybe made the biggest difference in how I am able to apply makeup.

For foundation and concelar I HIGHLY recommend Makeup Forever’s HD makeup line made specifically for photography and film. It is amazing. It covers perfectly but doesn’t settle into fine lines. It also doesn’t get ooey gooey and wipe off. I always use the matte primer, concelar, and liquid foundation together. Love it!
I HIGHLY recommend that you hire a makeup artist for your wedding day. If you need a recommendation ask me. It is common for a makeup artist to ask you to purchase your own foundation and bring it and that is my main reason for writing this post and clueing you into the not so famous Makeup Forever line that is adored by many makeup artist. You can purchase it at Sephora.
And here is my beautiful friend Allison in all her wedding glory.
